Here are some great game day snack ideas and simple game day recipes, and I promise they’re all super easy. You’ll have a table full of the best game day food before you know it!
The grocery selection at Family Dollar has recently expanded, so if you haven’t checked your local store lately, you should head there ASAP. You’ll find just about everything you need, including ground beef, which I used to make BBQ meatballs.
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup oatmeal
2 Tbsp minced onion
1 tsp garlic salt
1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup ketchup
20 oz bottle Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients together, except the BBQ sauce. Shape the ground beef mixture into meatballs. Grease an oven safe frying pan, and cook the meatballs until they are brown on all sides.
Take the pan off the stovetop, pour BBQ sauce over meatballs, and cover. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes. Stick toothpicks in the meatballs for cute serving.
I was amazed that I could find all of the ingredients I needed for these crowd-pleasing meatballs for prices that beat out overpriced grocery stores. The savings didn’t stop there! I was able to find tons more great food items to make tons of easy game day recipes, like classic chips and dips, delicious pizzas, and more of your favorites!

You can’t talk about game day food ideas without nuts. Family Dollar sells peanuts in the shell or a variety of canned nuts for snacking.
Pick up a couple of frozen pizzas, and stock them in your freezer for game day. You can prepare the rest of your game day recipes, and put the pizza in the oven just before party time. Cut it into small squares to make easy finger food for lots of guests!
