Simple Fall Recipes That Are Sure to Please Your Pocketbook

Fall recipes are some of my all time favorite kinds of recipes to make. Quick and easy fall recipes are even better! What better way to bring the flavors of fall into your home than simple and delicious fall food recipes?!  A big pot of chili simmering away on the stove for a warm dinner or a perfect baked bread that’s just waiting to be devoured, these are some of the things I look forward to when the weather starts to get a little chilly.

I’ve got two fantastic family favorites to share with you!  This Sweet BBQ Chili is one of our all time favorite fall dinner recipes, all you have to do it brown the beef and toss everything into a pot to simmer for about 30 minutes. Then, the Apple Butter Bread comes together in a snap and bakes into a perfect treat to have with a big mug of hot apple cider!

Sweet BBQ Chili

What you need:
2 pounds ground beef
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 (14 oz) can diced tomatoes
2 (15 oz) cans light red kidney beans, drained
2 (15 oz) cans chili beans
1 (29 oz) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 cup BBQ sauce

What to do:

Step 1: In a large stock pot, brown the beef.

Step 2: Once browned, drain the grease and return the beef back to the pot.

Step 3: Add in the dry mustard, paprika, salt and pepper. Stir well.

Step 4: Add in the diced tomatoes, light red kidney beans, chili beans and tomato sauce.

Step 5: Stir in the brown sugar and BBQ sauce. Stir well.

Step 6: Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer.

Step 7: Simmer on low-medium low for about 20-30 minutes.

Now, on to the dessert…

Apple Butter Bread

What you need:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup apple butter
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons apple butter
 
What you need (for topping):
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons flour

What to do:

Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350F.

Step 2: In a large bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3: In another bowl, mix eggs and sugar till thick. Add butter, oil, milk and apple butter.

Step 4: Fold into dry ingredients.

Step 5: Pour batter into a greased loaf pan.

Step 6: Spoon about 4 teaspoons of apple butter over the top of the batter and swirl in with a knife.

For topping:

Step 7: Mix together 2 tablespoons butter, 2 tablespoons sugar and 2 tablespoons of flour. Mix until crumbs form.

Step 8: Sprinkle on top of batter.

Step 9: Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes.
