Raise your hand if exercising more is on your to-do list for 2018 – I know it’s on mine! But between the weather, our busy schedules, and all the awesome shows on TV, it can be hard to find the motivation to exercise. I’ve partnered with Family Dollar to share three ways to motivate yourself to workout in 2018!

DO IT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

Productivity advice suggests doing the most important thing first, so if fitness is an important goal for you, do it first! Whether you like to run, do at home yoga, or if you attend workout classes, try making fitness the first thing you do in the morning. I’ve noticed that on days I workout in the morning, I am more energetic, more productive, and I use my phone less. When I skip morning workouts and say I’ll do it in the evening, my success rate is probably just 10 percent. If you’re not a morning person, try going to bed 30 minutes earlier and laying out your workout clothes to make the mornings a bit more tolerable until you get used to it.

PUT TOGETHER A PUMP UP PLAYLIST

If you’re working out by yourself, it’s crucial to have some jams to motivate you through your workout. Is there an album that just came out that you want to listen to? Challenge yourself to only listen to it while exercising – that’ll force you to exercise! My favorite kind of music to workout to are throwback jams from the 90s because they remind me of my childhood athletics days. I also love to put on African beats while at home because they always get me dancing!

BUY NEW CLOTHES & ACCESSORIES

When all else fails, buy a new workout outfit to get you moving! Funky leggings could be just what you need, or maybe you need a more supportive sports bra to support your movement.
