Our homes have been closed off and stuffy from the winter months and it's time to freshen up a bit. Before we run off to enjoy the warmer weather, a good deep cleaning is in order. At your local Family Dollar, you can save on all the cleaning supplies you'll need to get the job done right. Today, I'm sharing 6 spring cleaning hacks that will save you time and money!
Remove Soap Scum with Dish Soap and Vinegar
Using products for multiple purposes is always a win. Add slightly warmed vinegar to equal parts dish soap and pour into a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on soap scum in showers or tubs. Let sit for 15 minutes (or longer for seriously dirty jobs!) and scrub off. You won't believe how well this simple DIY cleaning solution can clean. Even better, Dawn Ultra Dish Liquid is currently on Price Drop at Family Dollar.
Use Vinegar to Steam Clean a Microwave
Talk about saving money and time in one simple hack. Splattered food can get caked on the inside of your microwave, but it's easy to clean with this method. Add equal parts vinegar and water to a microwave safe bowl. I use about a cup of each and turn the microwave on for 5-7 minutes. Leave the bowl in after for a couple of minutes to allow the steam to work its magic. Then, very carefully, with an oven mitt, remove the bowl and discard contents. Use a clean sponge to wipe out your microwave and finish cleaning.
Keep your Fridge and Freezer Cleaner with Baking Soda
Baking soda has amazing odor absorbent powers. They actually sell packs specifically made to work in the fridge or freezer. Remember to change your boxes out every 30 days for the freshest possibilities.
Clean with an Ultimate Sponge
Ever heard of those "magic" sponges? Family Dollar makes their own version at an incredibly affordable price. These Ultimate Sponges work amazingly to clean up tricky dirt and grime. Use them to clean anything, from the bathroom to the kitchen.
Use a Lint Roller to Tidy Up Curtains & Furniture
The lint roller is a handheld hack in itself. Use it for more than just clothes and freshen up curtains and furniture in minutes. Try it just once and when you see all the gunk it picks up, you'll always want to keep one on hand.
Keep it Fresh with Dryer Sheets
Part of the spring cleaning process typically includes packing up winter clothes. You can easily keep them extra fresh by stowing a dryer sheet or two in with the bins. I also love to put them in my car to give it a fresh scent. They absorb funky odors for a great result.
