You might have your own tried-and-true methods of cleaning. But these are my five top cleaning hacks that have helped me get my house in shape without breaking the budget.

1. Create your own cleaning solution.

Create a DIY cleaning solution using water, dish liquid and distilled vinegar. My DIY cleaning solution uses:

2 cups of water

1 teaspoon of dish liquid

1 teaspoon of distilled white vinegar

I use this solution to clean various things all over my house.

2. Clean the blinds using tongs.

Dip microfiber towels into the DIY cleaning solution and wring them out. Wrap the end of food serving tongs with the damp microfiber cloths and secure each end with a rubber band. Squeeze the tongs together to clean blinds.

3. Wash the walls using a broom.

Dip your microfiber cloth into your DIY cleaning solution and wring them out. Wrap a damp microfiber cloth around the bristles of a broom and secure it with a rubber band. Now you are set to wipe down your walls with ease!

4. Make chore baskets for the kids.

The trick to getting your kids to help is to be specific about the chores you want them to do. I make chore baskets with the supplies they need and a list with specific tasks they can do. I use colorful plastic baskets I got from Family Dollar for $1 each and stocked them with our favorite cleaning supplies. It works wonders for us!

5. Finish with air freshener.

Use an air freshener to give your clean home a fragrant aroma. I buy mine at Family Dollar using Smart Coupons. It gives my house an extra lift for when visitors come in and they love it!
