Free Your Home From Allergens
Household allergens are nothing to sneeze at! Here are some preventative measures and cleaning tips to keep common allergen offenders at bay.
Culprit: Dust Mites
These microscopic critters inhabit upholstered furniture, mattresses and pillows. To minimize dust mite allergens, clean rooms regularly with a vacuum and damp mop hard floors and surfaces to keep irritants from becoming airborne. Because dust mites feed off of dead skin cells, you can suffocate them by zipping mattresses and pillows into protective and washable covers. If stuffed animals are a must, stow them in a Glad® trash bag in the freezer while your child is sleeping to kill dust mites.
Culprit: Mold and Mildew
Moisture-loving allergens linger on hard surfaces. Evict them with Clorox® Clean-Up® Cleaner + Bleach. Just spray 4 to 6 inches from bathtubs, counters, showers, sinks, refrigerators, glazed ceramic tile, and fiberglass surfaces until they’re thoroughly wet. Let the solution sit for 5 minutes before rinsing or wiping.
Bonus Allergen Busting Tips:
- Purchase an air purifier to drastically reduce airborne dust, pollen, mold and bacteria in your home.
- If you live in a humid climate, a dehumidifier can discourage mold growth, but always be sure to dust, vacuum and spray soft surfaces with fabric refresher every few days for best results.
