Check out these tips to get organized and free up space by Clorox from Family Dollar!
Decluttering should be the first step of every home’s cleaning ritual. By removing unwanted, broken and neglected items, you’ll free up space and make it easier to keep your home clean.
These guidelines can help you kick clutter to the curb and organize your home.
- Make a list.
Take inventory of cluttered areas throughout your home with your family members. You won’t want to declutter and organize your entire home in just one day, but if you start by making a list, you can work through the challenge bit by bit together.
- Categorize everything in your home into 4 buckets.
Trash, Donate, Keep, and Relocate
- If you don’t love it, get rid of it.
Less really can be more, so be critical of your surroundings and let go of stuff that doesn’t serve you or your family members.
- Donate and regift.
Don’t throw perfectly good items in the trash. Regift them or donate to local charities in need.
- Remember that a home is never perfect.
Decluttering and organizing isn’t about achieving perfection. Instead, focus on maximizing spaces in your home so they best support you and your family.
- Make it a daily habit.
Instead of tackling 15 years of clutter in one weekend, set a timer for 15 minutes each day.
- Organize before you buy.
When you declutter first, you get a better sense of the space and storage potential that are already available to you.
