What is a Smart Coupon?

A Smart Coupon is a digital coupon, which is just like a paper coupon, only easier! Smart coupons are loaded directly to your account and are redeemed at the register when you purchase the qualifying item.

Will I be charged by my mobile carrier to use Smart Coupons?

Standard text messaging rates and data fees may be applied by your mobile carrier to create or access your account.  You will need to check your individual plan with your mobile carrier for more details.

How does the Smart Coupons program benefit me?

Smart Coupons tailors relevant offers for you based on your shopping history. You can clip these offers to your account, eliminating the need to cut or print out coupons. Additionally, a coupon list is generated that can be used for shopping. The coupon list can be accessed online, emailed or printed.

How do I sign up for Smart Coupons to receive discounts and coupons?

You will need to go to the Smart Coupons page on the Family Dollar website (www.familydollar.com/smartcoupons) to sign up and create an account. You can also text SMART to 28767 to receive a link to the website on your mobile device.  To sign up, you will need to provide a 10-digit phone number, preferably a mobile number, first and last name, an email address, and create a password.

Will I be able to track my savings?

Yes, when you enter your phone number at checkout your savings will be tracked through the savings dashboard. This provides an overview of your total savings over time. The savings dashboard can be accessed via web or mobile after you have logged in to your account.

Can there be more than one user on my Smart Coupons account?

No. Each account may have one registered user with one registered 10-digit phone number and one email address.

What personal information will be needed or used for Smart Coupons? Will it be shared?

You will need to provide your name, email address and phone number to participate.  You can refer to Family Dollar's Privacy Policy, which can be found at the bottom of the Smart Coupons page.

Will I be able to opt-in to the types of messages I want to receive?

Yes, we respect your privacy and only send messages that you opt into. To see or change your opt-in preferences go to edit profile – Marketing Communications and make any opt-in changes

How do I sign up for Smart Coupons?

You go to the Smart Coupons page on the Family Dollar website (www.familydollar.com/smartcoupons) to sign up and create an account. You can also text SMART to 28767 to receive a link to the website on your mobile device.

How do I know if a Smart Coupon has been clipped to my account?

A clipped coupon will show as “Clipped” in your coupon portal and you can also click on “My Coupons” to see a list of all clipped coupons.

Can I still use paper coupons (clipped or printed) for my purchases?

Yes, you can still use paper coupons. All coupon types will follow the coupon policy.

Will the product be available to redeem a Smart Coupon at each Family Dollar location?

We try to keep all products in stock, but certain products may not be available in all stores.

Do Smart Coupons have an expiration date?

Yes, the expiration date is visible on each coupon.

How often will new coupons be available?

Manufacturer coupons and store offers can be added at any time, so please check back often.

How many times can a Smart Coupon be used?

Typically, a Smart Coupon can only be clipped one time and used on one item.

How can I see new Smart Coupons?

New coupons will have a blue banner at the top with the word, New.  You can also click on the Personalized drop down on the Smart Coupons website and select “Newest” to see new coupons.

How do I redeem coupons at checkout?

You will enter your 10-digit telephone number into the PIN Pad (where you insert your debit/credit card) at checkout after the first item has been scanned and before the clerk totals the transaction.

How do I know if my Smart Coupon has been redeemed?

Your savings will be indicated on your receipt once the items have been purchased.  Additionally, the coupon will be listed as “Redeemed” in your “Recent Activity” page in your Smart Coupons account.

Once I have clipped a coupon, when is it available to redeem?

Clipped coupons are available as soon you clip them.  Many of our customers search for Smart Coupons on their mobile device when shopping in our stores.

How many Smart Coupons can I clip?

There is no limit on the amount of coupons you can clip.

Do I need to print Smart Coupons?

No. Smart Coupons are paperless and work automatically when they are added to your account and you enter your 10-digit phone number at checkout.

How do I save a coupon to my Smart Coupons account?

To save a Smart Coupon to your wallet, you will click "Clip" on the coupon and it will be saved to your account.  Once a coupon has been clipped, it cannot be unclipped.

What if I forgot my password?

You will need to go to the Smart Coupons website and click on the "Password help" link that is below the sign in fields. You will need to enter your email address and click the Submit button.  If the email address is in the system, you will receive an email with a link to reset your password.  The link to reset a password expires after 24 hours.

How often will new coupons be available?

Manufacturer coupons and store offers can be added at any time, so please check back often.
